Nov 3, 2023. **Scientist I Position in STRUCTURAL BIOLOGY** is immediately available!!

A Scientist I position is immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Gino Cingolani (www.cingolanilab.org) at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). We are seeking a motivated researcher with expertise in structural biology. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently and help lab members carry out structure determination using single particle analysis software, de novo model building, and structure refinement. Experience with vitrification of biological specimens, cryo-EM data collection, Linux, and GPU-computing is highly desired. Knowledge of protein purification and molecular biology techniques is not required for this job.

The Cingolani lab is equipped with several multi-GPU workstations and a GPU cluster for single particle analysis: a variety of cryo-EM datasets are immediately available for structural analysis. Candidates with a doctorate or master’s degree in structural biology (e.g., cryo-EM, X-ray crystallography, computational biology, etc.) and demonstrated experience in single particle analysis are encouraged to apply. Salary for this position varies broadly depending on qualifications, years of experience, and publication record. In addition, the Scientist I position offers significant opportunities for career progression and growth (https://www.uab.edu/humanresources/home/compensation/research-career-ladder). UAB consistently ranks among the top US universities, and Birmingham is among the best US cities.
